Florals with Understated Elegance

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
-Ecclesiastes 3:11

When budgeting for our wedding, flowers were almost at the top of my list. There is something about beautiful, organic florals that totally “make” a wedding in my eyes. When searching for a florist, there was no question on who I wanted it to be. I had regularly visited Maria Maxit with Maxit Flower Design’s website before I was engaged just because I thought her work was so beautiful. So when the time finally came, she was one of the first people I called – and I am SO glad I did! Seriously. If you are getting married or know of someone getting married and are looking for your dream wedding florist, I have your girl! Maria was so sweet, listened to every detail and “vision” I had for my flowers, and executed them perfectly.

When thinking about what I wanted the flowers to look like, I originally told Maria that I wanted to do all pinks and corals. But quickly, as I went through the planning process, I began envisioning all neutral tones with touches of gold. There was something about an old reclaimed wood barn, with chandeliers beaming from the ceiling, and white florals with touches of greenery draping the tables that seemed to represent the exact wedding style I was going for, understated elegance.

My bridal bouquet:  I chose to do an all white bouquet of only peonies, tied with long hanging ivory ribbon and then wrapped with lace from the wedding dress of my mother.

The bridesmaid’s bouquets:  I wanted them to compliment my bridal bouquet, and also be full and not seem “wimpy” when held next to mine. I think Maria knocked it out of the park with these!

Ceremony & entrance florals: When walking up to the barn, you saw a greenery draped chalkboard made by Kristara with Kristara Calligraphy. I framed the double barn door entry with two whiskey barrels and large arrangements, which served as an elegant but simple way to welcome our guests.

The guests were then led to the back of the barn and were seated amid rows and rows of pecan trees. There – a cross draped with white and green florals, a white rose petal lined walkway, and two more large arrangements at the front of the wedding aisle created my “dream” ceremony location.

Reception florals: After the ceremony, guests were then led into the barn which is where my FAVORITE floral arrangements were. An extra large arrangement held in a beautiful, white, rustic urn welcomed guests into the barn which sat on the table holding their seating assignments.

Long greenery with touches of white hydrangeas, blush colored roses, and white peonies draped our head table of forty-two people. 60″ round tables surrounded the head table, and candles provided a warm glow throughout the room.

From here, florals were found accenting different areas of the barn, including my cake, on whiskey barrels surrounding the stage, and on bar highs that had been spread throughout the reception space.

Bridal florals: And finally, for my bridal portraits I wore a flower crown and held a bouquet that was completely different than what my wedding bouquet was going to be. Thanks to Maria (and Sunkissed and Made Up) I felt so beautiful for these photos!
